APPLYFOLIO EDITORIAL · REVIEWED OCTOBER 2026
A practical resume for your first full-time role
A fresher resume connects the experience you have with the work you want to do. Specific examples are more useful than a long list of personal qualities.
Choose a clear direction
Name the kind of role you are seeking in a short summary, then connect it to relevant skills. Avoid claiming expertise merely because you completed a short course. Explain what you built, practiced or learned.
Use internships and projects honestly
Label internships, volunteer work and independent projects accurately. Include dates and enough context to understand the work. If you followed a tutorial, explain what you changed or learned instead of presenting the whole design as original.
Write skills with evidence
Group relevant tools and methods. Keep only skills you can demonstrate at the level the role needs. Replace “excellent communicator” with a short example in a project or experience section when possible.
Check before sending
Use an email address you check. Make sure links work, dates are consistent and the file name is professional. Export your document, select and copy some text, and inspect the result for broken characters or missing information.
Put this into practice
Open the resume builder to organize your own information, or review our fictional resume examples. Export a local JSON backup before leaving the editor.
