PDF COMPRESSOR · ALWAYS FREE
Make a large PDF smaller, right in your browser.
Reduce the size of image-heavy PDFs such as scans and portfolios so they fit upload limits. Your file never leaves this tab. No sign-up, no uploads, and no automatic saving. Export a backup to keep your work.
Compression happens in this browser tab only; nothing is uploaded. It works best on large, image-heavy PDFs such as scanned documents and portfolios.
How to use the pdf compressor
- Pick a compression level. Balanced suits most documents.
- Choose your PDF. Pages are re-rendered as images at a smaller size, in this tab only.
- The smaller copy downloads with its new size shown. Keep your original file as well.
A practical example
A scanned certificate pack of 9 MB often comes down to 2 to 3 MB at the balanced level, small enough for an application portal with a 5 MB limit. The exact result depends on the pages in your file.
What this tool can and cannot do
Compression re-renders each page as an image, so text in the compressed copy cannot be selected or searched, and fine print gets softer. Never compress the resume you submit to an employer's system; use it for scans, certificates and portfolios that only need to be read. PDF exports currently support ASCII Latin characters. Use text or JSON for other writing systems. Check all exports before submitting them.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There are no payments, subscriptions or premium templates.
Will you keep my information?
No document information is automatically saved by this application. Refreshing or navigating away clears the current tool. Download a backup first. The hosting provider still processes ordinary network information; see our privacy policy.
Do I need AI or an account?
No. The tools use browser-side templates and deterministic text processing. They make no AI API calls.
